Alleviating Hunger for a Better Tomorrow: FERN Employees Volunteer for a Cause

Imagine living life without sufficient food on the table. Tragic, isn't it? Closely linked to poverty is hunger and GK's Bayan-Anihan program believes that to solve the problem of hunger in the Philippines, the poor must be empowered to produce their food with their own able hands.

FERN's vision of providing prosperity to every Filipino truly relates to that of Gawad Kalinga's and hand in hand they will attempt to alleviate the conditions of the less fortunate by encouraging employees to take part in this battle.

May 1, 2010 was a monumental event in FERN's history when about 160 FERN employees went to Botolan, Zambales and helped the GK community in setting up their farms. "FERNville", as these farm lots were named will benefit 60 families. FERN's commitment to the program will also insure food on the table for the residents for the next three years.

Through this activity, the FERN family was able to help in the cause of eradicating hunger and enlightened the employees about the value of volunteer work and productive camaraderie.
